The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has taken a significant step toward strengthening rural development in Maharashtra through the launch of the Integrated Village Development Program (IVDP 2.0). The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Tata Motors Foundation and the Government of Maharashtra, with the aim of achieving holistic and sustainable village development.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, and Mr. Vinod Kulkarni, CEO of Tata Motors Foundation, in the presence of representatives from the Chief Minister’s Office and senior officials of IIM Nagpur.
Under IVDP 2.0, Tata Motors Foundation will provide financial support, while the state government will extend administrative backing. IIM Nagpur will act as the Knowledge Partner, offering strategic guidance in planning, implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment of Gram Panchayat Development Plans.
A key focus of the program is capacity building. With support from the state training institute YASHADA, field-level officers will be trained to ensure effective delivery of government schemes directly to rural communities.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Metri emphasized the institute’s commitment to applying management knowledge beyond classrooms to create real social impact. Project leaders also highlighted that IVDP 2.0 aims to make villages self-reliant and scalable as a model for other states.
The initiative marks a powerful step toward transparent, inclusive, and sustainable rural development in Maharashtra.
